Chick Day on the Farm!!

Today was chick pick up day on the farm!!!

Meyer Hatchery is only 30 minutes from my house so its nice to be able to go there and pick them up....not to mention it saves on those shipping costs!
I have been stressing on what chicks to order....checking the chick availability chart regularly.  I have really, really been wanting to get Blue Laced Red Wyandottes and I almost had them!  On Easter morning I checked the availability on my smart phone and there was 6 females available! By the time I logged on to my computer and got to Meyer's they were gone!! Really??  Who less was looking at Blue Laced Red Wyandottes at 9:00 am on Easter morning??
Lucky for me there were other chicks of interest so I clicked away and I could pick these girls up on Monday morning after 10 am.

So, in Box 1 on the left are 3 Silver Laced Wyandottes, 3 Welsummers, and 4 Speckled Sussex females.  I placed that order first.  Then I got to "thinking" and went back on to Meyers and ordered 4 White Plymouth Rocks and 8 Assorted Rare Females just for the heck of it.  These girls are in Box 2 on the right.

So, now I have 22 new baby chicks because I really needed 22 more baby chicks:)

A rare breed chick.......maybe a Polish one?  Kinda looks like a White Crested Blue from the picture in the catalog????

Well......I have no clue.....I think a Silver Laced Wyandotte....

And I believe a Speckled Sussex female......

.....and just because she is already a character I had to add this again!!

So, everyone is getting along so far.... they are not even 24 hours old yet!

Someone has a little attitude already........

.......opps, she must have heard me talking about her!!

So, much fun with chick days on the farm!!!

(ps.....I still want some Blue Laced Red Wyandotte females....;)

Waay too cute. I want the blue laced too!!!! I'm chickenless as the present but hope to get about a 1/2 dozen hens this summer. I'd like to get young pullets and I want to refrain from getting carried away and ending up with 22 like someone. :-)

Have fun!
