How I Rate this Winter

I rate how bad a winter is by how many times I have to have my driveway plowed out.

My driveway is a 700 foot  straight shot down from the road.
It has a little curve as it comes down to my house.
The driveway has been plowed out 5 times this winter.....meaning there was no flipping way I was going to get out without it being plowed out.

This. Winter. Sucks.

Today was the 8th snow day for the school district that I teach in.
While I am not sad about this, I have to admit I have like barely any grades because it has been a struggle to start and finish a topic without a weather interruption.
Dixie and Meesha however, don't mind me being home because they get extra playtime outside.

My poor little statue sheep have been buried in the snow all winter..........

.........and then there are some sheep who are so "fluffy" that I don't think they could possibly get buried in the snow......Abby has no shame.

On a positive note......there are 30 days till spring as of today!

I can't begin to count how many times the snow blower has been put to use on our long, curvy uphill/downhill driveway this winter. I am just so thankful that I have it!!!! The neighbor has come twice with his tractor, otherwise it has been my job to clear it away.

We've two days of 40 degrees ABOVE zero. Sooooo nice. This morning around 6:15 the Cardinal was singing his spring song. That warmed my heart. However......tomorrow we are to have rain, freezing rain and snow with high winds....delightful. I checked next week's forecasts and we head back to the below zero temps again but at least it is only night time temps that go that low.

How long will your school year be extended with all these snow days? Take care, be safe, be warm and hug all those sweet critters of your for me.
(I made the mistake of giving my wee fiber flock some grain---which my shearer told me NOT to do since they are so fat and it just about does him in when he shears them----when it was -40 wind chills. Now that it is warm, they still stand there and whine to me when all I bring is a bucket of water to fill their tank. I point to the hay bale, give them a stern look and turn my back. I must admit that I would rather give them a bit of grain anyway, but the shearer has a more stern look that I and I DON'T want to see that face within inches of my nose! >=0{

Susan.....those 2 dogs are LOVE the snow! Keep us posted on that new addition!

Barb....so good to hear from you! We only get 5 snow days but there is a bill in our state legislature to have a one time extension of days because so many districts are over the 5 days...this winter has been a tad annoying! Oh heck...a little grain doesn't hurt...its been cold!!
