A Mooshie Kinda a Rain Dance

To say it has been hot, humid, and very, very dry would be a tad of an understatement.  The last rain that my area got was the week I went to Mount Vernon which was almost 3 weeks ago.  All the rain keeps going North, South, East, or West of my house but today luck was on our side!!  About 2 o'clock the rain clouds came off of Lake Erie and right towards me!

It was actually 2 big storms, the kind of rain that was warm and one could smell the rain coming down.......the perfect kind of "summer rain".  After the rain I ventured out to check on the animals.

My LaMancha doe named Mooshie is quite the character and always seems to amuse herself.  She loves to eat the maple leaves and after the rain the branches were hanging low, perfect for her.  Notice her observer watching how she gets those darn maple leaves.

Mooshie's technique for obtaining a maple leaf after the rain requires a very balanced, upright body on 2 hooves. (Notice her "under weight belly;)

A little side step to maintain the balance may be necessary but never let that leaf go once one has it in the mouth!!!

And that's all it takes!!!  Oh, and Mooshie never shares her prize.....its all about her and only her.    Little does she know that she is going to be bred this Fall!!!!

I LOVE going for a walk in the puddles after a good summer rain......its good for the soul and puts a smile on my face:)  Yes, it is truly summer in July!

Hey Kristi - this is a wonderful post. I especially like the photo at the end of your feet in the rain puddle. This post just made me smile and feel good all over. Thanks for such a great post. We've been getting some afternoon t-storms here, and are finally pretty close to being on the mark for rain. It's been hot, humid, and dry here for some time. I think we've finally caught up, though. Thanks again for such a wonderful post for today. Take care, from KY.

Hey-how come I didn't get any of that rain? I'm only 20 minutes away from you!
Great pictures!!

I'm glad that you got some much needed rain! It's no fun watching your pasture and yard dry up.

Mooshie certainly is quite the acrobat! It's amazing how she utilizes every inch of her height to get to those leaves. Incredible balance!

Playing in puddles sounds like fun. I live on a hillside so don't usually have any except for maybe in the spring ~ right in front of the gates. Not a good spot to go barefoot! ;-)

Have a great time watching every thing grow and blossom now that you finally got some rain...
